Day 1: Kampala to Semuliki National Park
This wildlife tour to Semuliki starts in kampala. After breakfast, get on a fascinating drive through papyrus swamps and thick jungle of the Nile Delta just above the Rwenzori Mountain Ranges.
Get your afternoon lunch in fortportal and get ready to take a guided walk through the crater lakes area and visit to “Amabeere Ga Nyinamwiru” caves.
The Sempaya Hot Springs are Semuliki’s most famous attraction. The ‘male’ hot springs known as ‘Bintente’, measure 12m in diameter and is set in a lush swampy clearing.
The ‘female’ hot spring known as ‘Nyasimbi’, meaning ‘the female ancestors’ , is a boiling geyser (103 degrees centigrade) which spurts boling water and steam of upto 2meters high.
The steam cloud can be seen from as far as 2km away. Local people used to cook food and eggs in these boiling pools.
Day 2: Wildlife tour in Semuliki National Park
Get a morning boat ride along Lake Albert for a huge birding opportunity, including the shoe bill hunt. Look out for the Blue Swallow, White throated blue swallow, Swamp palm bulbul, Spotted greenbul, White starred robin and lowland akalat e.t.c
Thereafter, a game drive en-route to Semuliki National Park shall reward you. Semuliki National Park is home to forest elephants and buffalos, which are smaller versions of their savannah dwelling relatives.
It is also home for over 53 mammals of which 27 are large. 11 species are endemic to the park including the pygmy antelope and 2 flying squirrel species. It is also home to the peculiar water chevrotain, known as the ‘Fanged deer’.
Return back to kampala via mubende - mitiyana with lunch enroute at your choice restaurant or hotel. You will then proceed to Kampala, Entebbe airport or your next destination.
